Established in 1997, Breaking Free is an independently owned outdoor, travel equipment and outdoor clothing shop. Based in Farnham, Surrey, we specialise in outdoor equipment from some of the leading outdoor brands including Berghaus, The North Face, Lowe Alpine, Petzl, Scarpa, Meindl and many more. We also stock some of the more unique outdoor brands such as Paramo, Weird Fish and Alt-Berg.

Breaking Free's staff pride themselves on the knowledge and expertise they have gained in the outdoor industry by using the products first hand. We strive to hold as many items as possible required for any adventure at our outdoor shop, from local rambling to exploring Himalayan Treks. Orders received by 12 noon will be processed and dispatched the same day. We have a large range of travel luggage, rucksacks and organisers, from manufacturers like Eagle Creek luggage, Lowe Alpine, Berghaus and Camelbak at our outdoor store.
At our outdoor shop , we stock a large range of travel acessories, including: Petzl head torches; Garmin and Satmap GPS units; Leki walking poles; Craghoppers, Royal Robins, Berghaus, Weird Fish and Lowe Alpine clothing; Bloc and Oakley sunglasses and goggles; Trangia, Primus, MSR and Jetboil stoves; Rab and Snugpak sleeping bags and Thermarest self inflating out door matresses.
We stock many outdoors gadgets as well, from Leatherman multi-tools and knives to Suunto watches, and from Silva pedometers to Maglite torches.
Our outdoor shop in Farnham has a wide selection of outdoors footwear, starting with lightweight Teva and Source sandals, moving up to waterproof or non-waterproof walking shoes by Meindl and Scarpa. We also have many different types of walking boot, ranging from lightweight low-level boots to top end heavy duty mountain boots, and everything inbetween. Our main walking boot brands are Scarpa and Meindl, but we also stock some Hi-Tec, Berghaus and Brasher, as well as a choice of Bridgedale socks and Superfeet/Sorbothane insoles.
Our staff have an in-depth knowledge of all the items we stock and have usually had first hand experience using them, allowing them to offer you the best possible advice based on their own experiences in the outdoor world .
Our outdoor shops opening hours are 9:00 - 5:30, Monday - Saturday (excluding bank holidays), but we have some of our items available online for mail order.
